Development Directions Of Methodological Fundamentals Of Textual Criticism And General Terms Of Textology

The article examines the general development trends of textual criticism, which is a part of philology, since its inception. The structure and content of written monuments, as well as the use of written means and the identification (attribution) of the author and the provision of biographical information about him are the factors that form the main methods in textology. The article also discusses research areas related to the main problems of textual criticism. The article aims to give a brief overview of the existing methodological traditions in classical textual studies and presents their impact on modern textual criticism.
